Here is Jonah my second grandson, helping me cook. We are making a mixture of mixed potatoes – yams, sweet potatoes, yukon gold -with Lawry’s salt and olive oil, fresh chopped rosemary – baked for 1.5 hours in an oven at 350 degrees. YUMMY! Jonah held my hand while I cut the potatoes, then helped me rinse them by mixing them in a bowl with water and clean hands, then he placed each one into the cold pan into which I had put some oil. Then he sprinkled the rosemary which I had chopped all over them, along with the salt! HOW PROUD HE WAS!! And he consumed about 10 baby carrots as his snack while doing it. Excellent choice Jonah!

I loved cooking and baking with my kids and now I love doing these chores with my grandson. He loves tasting, mixing and is so proud of the finished results. Not only is it a way to teach them valuable life skills but it’s a great way to spend your special time together. I agree the extra mess is well worth it!
