Garlic Bread

Background:

Bread is the staff of life and garlic is its crowning glory. Adding garlic to bread and butter and heating it makes an aroma that can make one swoon. And tastes good too!

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

A long loaf of french bread from a bakery

Fresh crushed cleaned cloves of garlic

Softened butter ( not liquid – just soft enough to mash)

Salt to taste

(or you can cut corners and use Garlic salt)

Directions:

  1. Heat the Broiler to 500 degrees
  2. Mix the crushed garlic with the softened butter until well mixed.
  3. Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise so that it is in two long pieces.
  4. Spread the butter onto the inside of the two pieces
  5. If you are using the short cut, take butter without garlic, and mix it with garlic salt – then butter the bread on the inside.
  6. Place the long pieces of the bread on a foil lined cookie pan and using a pastry brush, brush the rest of the butter over the crusts of both halves.
  7. Flip back onto their backs and place under the broiler – not too close!
  8. Watch the bread carefully as it heats and then begins to toast slightly.
  9. Take it out and flip the pieces over so that they toast slightly on all sides.
  10. Remove and serve immediately!
